On Sunday, December 3, 2023, Executive Vice President of Foodservice at Almarai Mohammed Alshuhail participated in an interactive session titled "Corporate Sustainability Practices" held during the United Nations Climate Change Conference "COP28" hosted in UAE from November 30 to December 12 at Expo City Dubai.
Alshuhail started the session: "Almarai was established 45 years ago with very few cows in the middle of the desert and a small number of employees. Today, it is the world's largest vertically integrated dairy company, with around 200,000 cows and the highest milk production per cow globally. The company employs over 40,000 employees in 9 countries across five continents with more than 60 nationalities.".
He added that we produce our products in over 16 facilities. Although we are a food and beverage manufacturer and distributor, we are considered the largest logistics company in the Middle East. We have more than 10,000 trucks distributing our products.
Alshuhail continued: “Our five-year plan is built on three pillars: caring for people, protecting the planet, and producing responsible products. Although our targets are for 2025, we are proud to say that most of these targets are either 100% achieved or are ahead of their expected progress.”
He added: “We have reduced our diesel consumption in UAE by more than 25% and replaced it with biofuel in just four years; this is an outstanding achievement!”
It is worth mentioning that Almarai is the world's largest vertically integrated dairy company and the largest food and beverage producer and distributor in the Middle East, with several ample food and beverage production plants in the Middle East region, including eight factories in the Kingdom. In contrast, the rest of the factories are distributed in the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Jordan.
