His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadhli, honored the winners of the fourteenth session of the Almarai Prize for Veterinary Medicine for the GCC 2022, in a ceremony held in Riyadh and under his patronage , today, Wednesday 10 Rajab 1444 AH, corresponding to February 01, 2023 AD, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Ohali, President of King Faisal University in Al-Ahsa, CEO of Almarai Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Badr, and Dr. Salah bin Abdulaziz Al-Shami, Secretary-General of the Almarai Prize for Veterinary Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Veterinary Medical Association.
The winners were honored in the various categories of the award, as the distinguished researcher award was awarded this year by Prof. Ahmed Ibrahim Alsheikh from the College of Veterinary Medicine at King Faisal University, and Prof. Ibrahim Muhammad Al-Ashmawy from the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at Qassim University.
The award for the best Saudi veterinarian in the field of epidemiology and infectious diseases was awarded by Dr. Hassan bin Ahmed Al-Alaq from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The award for the best Gulf veterinarian was won by Dr. Thani bin Obaid Al Shukaili from the Sultanate of Oman, and the award for the best Gulf veterinarian was won by Dr. Sherine Bint Adel Al-Qazzaz from the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Outstanding Student Award in Veterinary Medicine was awarded to the student Muhammad bin Faisal Al-Wajih from the College of Veterinary Medicine at King Faisal University, and the student Thamer bin Saleh More from the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at Qassim University.

Al-Badr added that this award is one of the main building blocks in supporting the veterinary profession in the Kingdom and the Gulf countries.
Dr. Salah bin Abdulaziz Al-Shami, Secretary General of the Almarai Award for Veterinary Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Veterinary Medical Association thanked Almarai Company for its generous support in honoring distinguished researchers, workers, and students with a qualitative award in the field of veterinary medicine, as well as for supporting science, scientists, and scientific research in the Kingdom. In various fields, pointing to the interest in the veterinary profession in the Kingdom and the Arabian Gulf, where 77 veterinarians and scientists have been honored since the establishment of the award until now.
He added that the fourteenth session of the award for this year identified the award’s secretariat as specializing in infectious diseases and epidemiology due to its importance in preserving public health and animal wealth and working to develop them and increase production rates as a contribution to achieving food security, which will reflect positively on the national economy.
It is worth mentioning that Almarai Award for Veterinary Medicine in the GCC was launched in 2010 to emphasize the active role of the veterinarian in protecting the public health of livestock in the Kingdom and show the bright side of the veterinary profession and its importance.
