His Excellency Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, honored Almarai Company for obtaining the Saudi Good Agricultural Practices certificate “Saudi G.A.P”.
This came during a ceremony held by the National Committee of Poultry Producers of the Council of Saudi Chambers in the presence of His Excellency the Minister on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, to honor the companies that obtained “Saudi G.A.P” certification for applying several standards of good agricultural practices that will contribute to the sustainability of production and provide healthy and safe food to the consumer, as well as enhance consumer confidence in local poultry products.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture had launched the “Saudi G.A.P” certification, which provided a local network linking farmers and brands in the production and distribution of safe foods, to ensure consumer assurance, food safety and traceability.
"We at Almarai are proud to have obtained the Saudi Good Agricultural Practices certificate “Saudi G.A.P” because it confirms the company's commitment to implementing the highest quality standards in the poultry sector at Almarai." Abdullah Alshemisi Head of Regulatory Affairs in Almarai said.
Almarai is the world's largest vertically integrated dairy company and the largest food and beverage production and distribution in the middle east, producing more than 250 million chickens annually, rising to 450 million birds by 2026; and all Almarai operations have been obtained the Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000, recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). Almarai facilities have also received several other certificates including ISO 9001 quality management system to ensure that Almarai quality performance and food safety remain robust.
