On Friday, December 1, 2023, Almarai's CEO Abdullah bin Nasser Albader participated in the discussion panel titled "Building a Sustainable Food System" that was held at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP28, hosted by UAE from November 30 to December 12 at Expo City Dubai.
Albader stated during the session: "Almarai has started its primary operations in Saudi Arabia, then expanded to GCC, Egypt, Jordan, Argentina and the United States. The company is different from most other dairy food companies in the sector, with its ownership of the supply chain, allowing it to control its manufacturing, supply, and distribution operations. It further enables us to work with various partners and stakeholders towards building a sustainable food system. "
The CEO continued: "Regarding caring for the planet, Almarai has more than 100 CFC-free repositories. And we also have a highly efficient and innovation-based system. "
He added: "On the research front, Almarai has given great importance to scientific innovation and research. The company launched Almarai's Award for Scientific Innovation over 15 years ago. In addition to other initiatives that aim to develop the young local talents to become ready to contribute to a sustainable food industry."
Looking at the dairy part of our business, we have raised the milk production of our cows by 45% more than the global production while still maintaining to provide our herd of 200,000 cows with an environment in which they are well-cared for."
Regarding the poultry sector, Albader said: "We are achieving breaking records now and then in this vital food sector." He continued, "Our focus is on ensuring the sustainability of food production and supplies while maintaining high quality that meets our standards. "
It's worth mentioning that Almarai is the world's largest vertically integrated dairy company and the largest food and beverage producer and distributor in the Middle East, with several ample food and beverage production plants in the Middle East region, including eight factories in the Kingdom. In contrast, the rest of the factories are distributed in the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Jordan.
