Almarai participated with a pavilion in the International Exhibition and Forum on Afforestation Technologies, which was held under the patronage of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and inaugurated by Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification, Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, lasted for three days, it continued to reflect the Kingdom’s outstanding efforts in supporting vegetation cover and protecting the environment locally, regionally, and globally.
Almarai’s participation came under the slogan “We make food and protect the environment” and presented to the visitors its model in achieving the company’s vision in sustainability management to protect the environment, where it was able to achieve a 7% reduction in total water consumption until 2021, and aims to increase the efficiency of its consumption by 15 By 2025, 4,000 tons of total plastic packaging has been reduced, in addition to that 67% of carton packaging is made of recycled materials.
According to the Almarai Company’s sustainability report, the percentage of solar energy use in Almarai until 2021 increased to 30.86%, with 44,500 thousand solar panels generating clean energy in Al-Kharj and 29,600 thousand solar panels generating clean energy in Hail. It started a project to plant 133 thousand trees worth 8 million Riyals in all regions of the Kingdom.
